I am excited to announce that I am making online therapy available to individual clients in Arizona. This service is available via a secure online video conferencing portal designed specifically for telehealth services. This can be especially helpful to individuals who find it difficult to come for face-to-face sessions due to the demands of travel time.
Is Online Therapy Suitable For Me?
Online therapy may not be the right choice for every situation. No doubt, it is different than face-to-face. However, a growing body of research suggests that, in many situations, it can be as personal and effective as more traditional in-person therapy. I currently require that the first session be in person so that we can fully assess the appropriateness of future online sessions for each individual. I also limit online work to individuals. With rare exceptions, couples work must be done in person at my office in North Phoenix.
What technology is needed for online therapy?
- Access to a reliable internet connection
- Ideally, a device that can provide a larger screen - a tablet at least, but a laptop or desktop is best. A telephone can work in a pinch, but the small screen limits the quality of the experience.
- Desktops and laptops need to be equipped with a camera and a microphone. This is standard issue for most computers.
- You will need a private and quiet place, free of interruptions to have the session.
How do I schedule an online session?
If you have already met with me in person and we have decided to proceed with online sessions, you may schedule via my online scheduler here.
